Between late 1945 (at the end of World War II), through 1947, Kellogg’s cereal started placing these pinback pins in small cellophane envelopes inside boxes of its Pep cereal. These are some of those original pins, fished out of the Pep boxes by an 8-year-old kid (me). Except for a few possible swaps at that time, they have had only one-owner (me, again) since then. I collected a total of 58 pins, until I couldn’t stand to look at another Pep flake–it tasted like cardboard. According to a 2006 Heritage Auction catalog there were a total of 86 pins in the full set. 52 of the 58 that I managed to collect are for sale here. You can buy whichever pins, and whatever number of pins, you want (although there is only one of each, except for the “Herby” pin). Select the pin or pins that you want from the drop-down and put them in your shopping cart. I will discount the total order 5% for 10-19 pins; 10% for quantities of 20 pins or more. When you complete your order I will send you an invoice for the total cost and will ship the pins to you upon confirmation of payment. The following pins (included in the collection) are unusual because of the lettering on the pin, and perhaps are rare: Lillums – Back of pin repeats “MADE IN USA”. See picture with drop-down. Most pins say “Kellogg’s PEP” as shown above. Smitty – Back of pin repeats “MADE IN USA” See picture with drop-down. Most pins say “Kellogg’s PEP” as shown above.Uncle Willie – Copyright data are missing on top of rim. Apparent failure to print. No indication of having worn off. See picture with drop-down.Below are the pins I am offering. I will try to keep the list current as pins are purchased. One of the loveliest examples of Irish hand tatted edgings I have had.
