Lilly Barbiturates Unisex T-Shirt
Eli Lilly first marketed Secobarbital (Seconal) and Amobarbital (Amytal) as short-acting and intermediate-acting barbiturates for the purposes of sleep and anesthesia induction. Seconal quickly became one of the most popular sedative/hypnotics on the market for its highly potent GABAergic qualities. Seconal was one of the most addictive substances ever produced and a favorite amongst users. Amytal was a longer acting barbiturate that was not as popular with the users of the day, however, they did develop quite a following. Then came the combination drug Tuinal, which combined equal parts Seconal and Amytal into one capsule or “Pulvule” as Lilly called the bullet-shaped pills. Tuinal ensured a quick induction for sleep with Seconal and a full night’s rest with the longer acting Amytal. Seconal was also used as a loading agent for anesthesia. Lilly’s jeweled, shiny pulvules were the first-line sedative/hypnotic and are the stuff of “holy grail” legend. This t-shirt is everything you’ve dreamed of and more.
